School of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College Dublin Founded in 1592, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is the oldest university in Ireland and one of the older universities of Western Europe. TCD is recognised internationally as Ireland's premier university and was ranked 78th in the top 100 world universities by the QS World University Rankings 2015. The city centre campus occupies some 51 acres, including the Trinity Technology and Enterprise Campus. TCD’s School of Computer Science and Statistics (SCSS) is one of the largest computer science departments in Ireland and the UK and consists of over 60 academic staff, with almost 230 full-time postgraduate students. The School of Computer Science and Statistics has dedicated hardware and software support staff as well as its own machine rooms and virtual server infrastructure for running evaluations.

The Creative Technologies Research Theme at TCD integrates creative arts and technology, creating a unique and dynamic combination in areas of multimedia, gaming, content and production.

Trinity has an international reputation for research, education and knowledge transfer activities in the technologies that underpin the Creative and Entertainment Industries, such as Film, Video Games, Visualisation and Design, Digital Arts and Networks and Telecommunications. This research has extended to collaborations between engineers, scientists, and artists, which is an important strategy in leading research centres around the world along with direct engagement with the creative and enabling industries.

The Graphics, Vision and Visualisation group (GV2) at TCD is an internationally active research group dedicated to carrying out innovative research in computer graphics, computer vision and all aspects of visual computing. GV2’s main areas of research include:
• Image, Video and Audio Processing & Analysis
• Perception & Graphics
• Real-time Rendering & Animation
• Custom and Multi-core Hardware Architectures
• Computer Vision & Augmented Reality

Since 2006 GV2 has been successful in obtaining over €7 million in funding from national funding agencies as well as through EU FP7 and H2020 projects. GV2 were coordinators of the EU FP7 projects VERVE and GRAISearch and are collaborating in the H2020 project POPULATE. The group regularly publishes papers in leading international journals and conferences and members have been successful in establishing industry companies such as Surewash, Haptica and Havok.
