The SAUCE project aims at producing, piloting and demonstrating a set of professional tools and techniques to increase the potential for re-purpose and reuse of assets, as well as providing significantly improved technologies for digital content production and management.

UNFOLDING 2.0 FOR LOOKING GLASS
Filmakademie have released the experimental production Unfolding 2.0 for the Looking Glass

MEDUSA
Medusa has been developed by UPF, where we aim to develop based tools intended to animate secondary (or background) 3D virtual agents (where quantity is more important than quality) in real time, by giving them a behaviour that makes them aware of their surroundings and can navigate in a scenery semi-autonomously.

VIRTUAL PRODUCTION EDITING TOOLS
VPET is a collaborative tool developed by Filmakadamie that allows realtime scene editing via an intuitive interface. It takes a holistic approach on light, asset and animation editing, for virtual production environments. Its development is open-source, with growing support for diverse film and VFX pipelines.

AUTO-SKELETON TOOLS
The V-SENSE lab of Trinity College Dublin developed auto-skeleton tools that can be used to quickly create skeletal structures from human character meshes in the Houdini 3D animation software.
- The tool can extract a skeleton from a human character mesh in any pose if the rest pose of the same character is provided.
- The generated skeleton works seamlessly with the newly introduced KineFX workflow inside Houdini 18.5 or later.
- The skeletal structure is compatible with the CMU Graphics Lab Motion Capture Database.
To use these tools, simply copy the hda files to your local otls directory.

LIGHT FIELD TOOL BOX
TCD developed multiple tools for the re-use of light field smart assets, covering a wide range of light field applications. Most of these tools are open source (Matlab, C++) and available to download, including:
- A toolbox to decode, colour correct, and remove hot pixels from light fields capture with a Lytro Illum camera
- A denoising / super-resolution filter
- A disparity/depth map estimation tool
- A Fourier Disparity Layer representation for light fields

LIGHT FIELD ELEMENTS SHOOT
A test shoot with the University of Saarland Lightfield rig at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg studios took place in October 2018. The SAUCE Lightfield Elements Shoot example data which contains walkcycles and fire / smoke elements and is now available to download

SEMANTIC ANIMATION MOTION LIBRARY
Partners UPF and Filmakademie are developing real-time control systems for authoring animated content using smart assets, automatically synthesising new scenes from existing ones and integrating smart assets into virtual production scenarios with editable cameras and lights. Filmakademie has released the PHS Motion Library. it contains over an hour of bipedal reference motion capture data and videos. The data-set was created with particular focus on emotional variations of walk cycles. Available to download

MINIATURE CITY ASSETS
Filmakademie released the Love & 50 Megatons - Miniature City Assets. This 2020 VES nominated production made heavy use of a virtual production scenario and scanned miniature assets. Available to download
